OVERVIEW

Thumbtack Internship

I am currently the product design intern on the Customer Experience team. Our main goal is to help customers find and match with the right local professionals to get projects done. My work includes cross-functional collaboration on search results, pro-service profiles and native upsells on iOS, Android, and the web.

Featured Review

Users are always looking for signals to help determine if a pro could do their jobs. Showing users the relevent review by highlighting keywords that match with a user's query can help users evaluate a pro.

Native Upsell

Thumbtack mobile app is the best place for users to search and engage with local professionals. The team has been seeing an increasing revenue generated from our app. So encouraging our users to download our mobile app is one of the goals this year. By working with the growth team, I designed a slightly aggressive upsell that users can only see service prices after downloading our app.

Search Recovery

Because Thumbtack's current search engieen isn't smart enough, some users end up in wrong categories, which makes them not feel confident in finding the right professionals on our platform. I designed a search recovery to help users navigate to the right ones and then find the right pros.

REFLECTION

Giving the context for a project and clearly showing different solutions with their pros and cons helps teammates and peers give better feedback and feel more confident that you’ve explored all possible solutions. Additionally, guiding and leveraging the feedback is a huge challenge to designers since we constantly share our work with both designers and non-designers. I also learned which feedback to take and which to pass on.
